Recently I have had the chance to visit Lucknow, the capital city of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh which was historically known as the Awadh region. This city is known for culture heritage food and clothes. Be it any city or place, you'll always find some interesting or cool facts, and Lucknow is no exception.
Lucknow is known for its sweet language and for a cloth design called Chikankari. If you'll not be aware of this design then you might misunderstand this with Chicken. This time I learned that the design is taken from Rumi Darwaza which is located near Bara Imambara. Lucknow is extremely popular for Chikan and Lucknavi Zardozi. Both of these are two kinds of stylish and delicate Indian embroideries.
Eating street food near Hazratganj was a good experience. If you happen to visit Lucknow, the evening is the right time to visit this place and you'll find many good restaurants. There are many special cuisines which are always recommended by peoples such as - Motimahal's Kulfi, biryanis, kebabs, and chaats.
This photostream contains stills from this visit.
Hazratganj has many good restaurants, I liked Moti Mahal restaurant for Kulfi and Aaloo Tikki. Evening is the best time to visit this area.
Lucknow is also called "City of Nawabs" because in the 18th century this city was ruled by Nawabs.
Unplanned meeting with friends, what else you need when you visit new cities.
