Mysore visit, July 2016

Mysore, India

Recently I had visited Mysore, and this wasn't my first visit to this city. Earlier in 2012 when I was living in Chennai I had visited the city with friends. The city is situated 143 km far from Bangalore in Karnataka and is the cleanest city in India. The name of this city named as Mysore(also known as Mysuru) on the name of Mahishasura, who was a demon in Hindu mythology. He was the ruler of this place and was killed by the Goddess Chamundeshwari, whose temple is situated atop the Chamundi Hills.

Mysore is well known for the festivities that take place during the period of Dasara, the state festival of Karnataka. The festival is celebrated because on the same day Dashanana was killed by lord Rama.

The city is famous for silk, sandalwood and a sweet called Mysore pak. Pak is a Sanskrit word which means sweet.

Top places to visit in Mysore are - Mysore Maharajah's Palace, Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, Sri Chamundeshwari Temple, Brindavan Garden and Srikanteshwara Temple.
